Pennies for Patients

Aloha!
Just wanted to let you all know we are jumping on board with The School & Youth Program for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's "Pennies for Patient" program again. Despite the name, any money is welcome of course and it all goes directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The drive will be ONE WEEK ONLY and will begin on March 9th.
a few facts...
*Every five minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Currently there are more than 894,543 Americans battling blood cancer.
*Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children and young adults under the age of 20.
*Every ten minutes, someone dies from a form of blood cancer- an estimated 53,920 deaths in 2007.
*WE CAN HELP!!

Loads and loads of aloha and happy coin collecting!

Seacliff Book Club

We'd like to remind you about the "Secliff Book Club." When you buy a book for the library, your child's name will be placed on a book plate in the front of the book. You can choose a book from the list on the Seacliff website (www.hbcsdk12.ca.us/Seacliff) or better yet just send a check for $20 (or cash) and let Mrs. Woods pick the most current book that all the kids are dying to read right now! We appreciate your help. The Seacliff Book Club is one of the ways that we add to our library collection and keep our kids motivated to read!

She is such a huge helper and blessing to each on of us in room 2! She is always working on something for us and doing it with a smile! Right now, she is working hard to get our Gala item all together (among a million other things) and it doing a wonderful job! That is enough to keep anyone busy but she wrapped up our week as our Mystery Reader- What a gal!

She had us all cracking up... the comic relif at the end of this week was just what we all needed! Thank you so much for ALL that you do Melissa!!

Happy weekend to you all and be thinking about what you might be able to add to our "Family Fun" Gala item!

Fun Friday

Fridays mean Mystery Story Teller time!! Samuel's mom had us stumped with her clues but treated up to two wonderful stories! Thank you so much for your time and the gift of reading!

Mrs. Harrison came in and gave us our art lesson for this month's artist; Winslow Homer. We are experts with tint now and have some amazing art work to prove it!

Don't forget that this kicks off a three day weekend! We have been talking lots about Abraham Lincoln. Ask your kiddo for some facts about Mr. Lincoln, I bet they'll knock your socks off!

Mr. Groundhog in the ground, pop your head up look around!

Here's a little groundhog, furry and brown
He'll pop up and look around.
If he sees his shadow, down he'll go.
Then 6 more weeks of winter- OH NO!!

Room 2 had fun learning all about Groundhog's day and going on a shadow hunt today.

Just for the record, Phil (and all the keiki of room 2) saw their shadows... Looks like six more weeks of winter folks!
